The AIDS Community Residence Association's mission is to serve individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS by providing diverse, supportive housing options and compassionate care. Housing is the greatest and least met need of people with HIV/AIDS. ACRA operates a 24-hour care facility for people with AIDS, Blevins House, and an apartment complex and a quadruplex for families and individuals with HIV, the Fitts-Powell Apartments and Buchanan Place, all located in Durham, NC. ACRA accepts clients from throughout the US and its territories. For the residents of Blevins House, the Fitts-Powell Apartments, and Buchanan Place, ACRA means the difference between a safe and comfortable place to call home, and life in an acute care facility or in substandard housing, in overcrowded conditions, or on the streets.
